Rubber
Stamping Tips and Tricks
Can't find
an Off-the-Rack card that suits your fancy? Want some wrapping paper that
really stands out? How about a personalized sweatshirt? With a rubber
stamp, some fabric ink,
and a little imagination, you can do all of these things and so much more!
| Basic
Rubber Stamping |
| You
will need: a rubber stamp, rubber stamp ink, craft paper, and a flat,
solid surface |
- Completely
coat the back of the rubber stamp with ink.
- Position
the stamp over your paper
- Press
the stamp firmly onto the paper
- Remove
the stamp and allow the ink to dry
- Use
makers, water colors, colored pencils, or glitter pens to add
detail

Experiment
with different kinds of paper. Parchment, drafting velum, tissue paper,
and Bristol board all work great! |
| Rubber
Stamping on Fabric |
| You
will need: a rubber stamp, Fabrico
Craft Ink, fabric (a fabric with a small grain, such as cotton,
will work the best, an iron, a piece of scrap paper, and a flat, solid
surface |
- Completely
cover the back of the rubber stamp with ink.
- Position
the stamp over the fabric (make sure the fabric is flat).
- Press
the stamp firmly onto the fabric.
- Remove
the stamp.
- Use
Fabrico Craft
Ink Markers to add detail.
- If
you make a mistake, you can use water to remove the ink.
- When
you are finished, make the ink colorfast by ironing it with an
iron set to No Steam
(protect your iron by placing a piece of scrap paper over the
image).
- We
recommend washing such images by hand with a mild detergent and
cold water.

| Embossing
an Image on Velvet |
| You
will need: a rubber stamp, a piece of velvet, and an iron |
- Position
the rubber stamp over the velvet. Make sure the rubber image faces
the fuzzy front side of the velvet.
- Pull
the velvet taut and secure it to the back of the stamp with tape.
- With
an iron set to Steam, iron the back of the velvet.
- Remove
the velvet and highlight the image using beads or glitter glue.
- We
recommend that you do not wash embossed velvet.

| Embossing
Rubber Stamps on Paper |
| You
will need: a rubber stamp, rubber stamp ink (a thick, non-water soluble
ink works best), craft paper, embossing powder (available from fine
crafts stores), a heat source such as a hot plate or a heat gun, and
a flat solid surface |
- Completely
coat the back of the rubber stamp with ink.
- Position
the stamp over your paper.
- Press
the stamp firmly onto the paper.
- Remove
the stamp.
- Before
the ink has a chance to dry, liberally sprinkle the image with
embossing powder, making sure the image is completely covered.
- Remove
the excess powder.
- Place
the image over you heat source.
- Remove
the image from the heat source when the powder begins to liquefy.
- Allow
the image to cool.
- Use
makers, water colors, colored pencils, or glitter pens to add
detail.

| Caring
for Your Rubber Stamps |
- Be
sure to supervise young children using rubber stamps.
- After
every use, wash your rubber stamp with warm water and dishwashing
soap and let air dry.
- All
of our rubber stamps are mounted on a solid wood block with a
colored image on front. When not in use, you can set these stamps
around your house as decoration!
