I have been a firm fairy believer since I was 11 years old. I do believe to have had two fairy encounters, although they are not sightings but more so as ‘hearings’. My first encounter was when I was about 14 years old. I was in bed and having trouble falling asleep, so I decided to just close my eyes and think about fairies (because I had just found this website and started reading these mystifying stories). I was also sharing my room with my cousin Natalie at the time this happened. Well, anyways I just laid there thinking and all of a sudden I heard what sounded like dragonfly wings fluttering above by the top left corner of my room (which is almost directly over my bed) and after I heard that I grew a little scared because there couldn't be a dragonfly in my room, so I didn't know what it was. But I woke my cousin up and asked if she had heard that noise, but she was half asleep and didn't know what I was talking about, even as I described it. I immediately thought that it could most likely be a fairy. I was also feeling a little bit weird that night too, like as though something else was in the room with us or watching us. My second encounter was at one of my cousin's birthdays at our house when I was feeling really emotional and feeling ignored and depressed. I was feeling a bit tired of all the commotion that my family was making, so I decided to step outside and sit on my backyard lawn (which is pretty big which trees surrounding it, plus a vegetable garden). I was sitting a couple steps behind my garage on the grass. I started to admire nature and listen to the noises and quickly hum/sing to myself because I had read online about how you should sit quickly, pay close attention to nature, and hum a little to attract fairies. So I did exactly that for about 5-8 minutes. And about 10 seconds later after I had stopped humming, I heard the exact same fluttering of dragonfly wings right beside my left ear (I also felt that same mysterious feeling of being watched). I listened to the sound of the wings for about 30 seconds and although I also read that you shouldn't look at them directly or you will scare them away, I couldn't help myself and turned my head to look and the sound was gone. I looked all around and there was not a dragonfly, bird, or insect in sight. Also there were no dragonflies out at that time of year. After I had heard that I felt a lot better and happier than I previously was. I do believe for both to have been fairies, but I am 15 now and still have been trying since my last encounter to actually SEE a fairy, nothing so far but I'm confident that I will soon. I am also planning to make a fairy house soon to attract more fairies and place it in my flower garden. This all occurred in a normal small town, with not much forest left in it anymore, although I do have a field and woods far back from the field. I have been and am what I believe is to be called a fallen Catholic, although I was still taking confirmation, but did not believe in the Catholic beliefs as my whole family did. Sadly no one believed me when I told my family about it. So I finally decided to share my story with fellow fairy believers as you. I have also been really into the Irish culture and am planning to move to Ireland as soon as I can, and have heard that most Irish people believe in folklore. Well, I don't want to bore you any longer but one last thing, I am also planning to attract gnomes and do fairy things attract gnomes as well?? If not please feel free to share your ideas on gnome and fairy attracting. Thank you for giving me the chance to share my stories with you all and taking the chance to read them. -- A firm fairy believer, Dawn. |

I just started believing in fairies just a few months ago ever since I started reading this website. I built a little fairy home with some treats. It was about 9:00 when I looked out the window (I live on the very top floor of our condo, it has 8 stories) and I saw this tiny light. At first I thought it was just a lightning bug, but lightning bugs flick their light on and off, this one didn't. And then it went behind this thing in the middle of the window (you know like when windows slide up and down, when you slide them down, the bottom window overlaps the top one, making the top of the bottom window make a bar across the whole window.) Well, it went behind that, and then it disappeared. I believe it was a fairy. Ever since I built that house, things have been moving. I set my rubber band down on the couch, and I went to the bathroom and came back and it was on the floor about 3 feet away from the couch. I thought "that's weird..." And then for one of the treats I put down for the fairies keeps moving, but I never see any bite marks on any of the treats. The treat I set down was on top of a note for them, then I left and came back, and it was a little but further. Then I left and came back again, and it was even further. Are these pixies I'm dealing with? I heard they play harmless pranks on you. And also I just feel the presence of them. |

I am 13 years old and I’ve sighted a fairy. It happened when I was 11. It happened at very slowly though. A small fairy in a short purple dress with a bob came to me in a dream. I didn't know what she was saying, but she just followed me through my dream. The next month I turned twelve. I was outside of my house and I saw the fairy outside of my house in a tree. She smiled, waved and disappeared into the leaves. That was the last time I saw her, but I still see fairies in my dreams. |

One evening a couple of years ago, my parents and I were pulling out of the church parking lot. I looked out of the window, and something caught my eye. I glanced up. Above the car next to us, there was a yellow glow. It was shaped sort of like a leaf, and it was completely solid. It couldn't have been a firefly, because it was huge - maybe four to six inches tall. I was able to look directly at it. It was moving, but very slowly and lazily. I was a little surprised, but I remember feeling calm, too. I didn't say a word. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. That was the only time I've seen a faerie (other than tree folk, which are very common here). I promise you the story is true. I swear that I saw it, and I'm not making it up. I have no idea why it happened, but it did, and I know that much for sure. |

One night, I stayed up very late reading. I got really tired, and right as I was about to turn out the light, I thought I heard a TV on in the playroom. Naturally, I don't like listening to Dora or Sponge Bob when going to sleep, so I called down to my mom and dad and asked them to turn off the TV for me because they were still awake. Then, just as the TV seemed to get louder, they said something that made my blood turn to ice. "The TV isn't on!" Sometimes I think I hear noises or songs being sung in the playroom late at night now, but I don't dare check. I think it must be fairies, because I never can make out what the tiny voices are saying. Other times, when my light is out and when I am just almost asleep, I hear a voice inside my head that whispers things to me. I don't think it, so I open my eyes with a start and scan the room. Sometimes it whispers bone-chilling things, and then other times it whispers sweet things. Also, at night, it feels like something is protecting me because I haven't had a nightmare while sleeping in my bed since I started believing in fairies. I like that a lot. One other time, I had my covers bunched up and I could have sworn I had seen little lights dancing around and blinking inside of it, but when I lifted up the covers, there was nothing there. It could just be mind tricks, but I don't think so! |

I think I have had 3 signs of faeries at my house. I’m not positive if they are, though. The first sign was when I was meditation in my bedroom around dusk after a shower. When my mind was as quiet as possible, I could’ve sworn I heard whispering coming from the corner of my bedroom were I keep my shelf of faery statues, rocks, and sea shells. I couldn’t make anything out, though. I think they could’ve been speaking in Faery… My second sign was when I lost my Easter basket. I’ve had it forever, and I couldn’t bear to lose it. I look in my Brian Froud book to look for a faery that could help me find it, and the faery I found was called the Helping Faery. I wrote a note and gathered up some stones and seashells and took out into my mother’s garden. I few days later I came home from school with my basket on my desk, alone with a daffodil and 2 stones (which I’ve laid in the garden before) inside of it! What makes me question if it really was the Helping Faery was that I think my mom could’ve done it, but I asked and she said no, which makes me more hopeful. My third sign was actually today. I was in my mom’s garden again and I asked if they could give me a sign if they were there. I listened and heard nothing, and I asked if they could tell me a little louder. Just then I head something like a teeny tiny gong. I asked again two more times, and the “gong” rang both. The last time I asked I remembered we had a stature with bells on it. I found it, and all the bells were aged and rusty. I was about to leave when the “gong” rang one last time. What makes me doubtful about this one was that it was a windy day. I’m searching for the source of the noise, but so far I’ve had no luck, so I’m pretty sure it is a faery! |

“I hope you enjoy this, flower fairies!” -Maddie
That’s what I wrote on a small piece of paper when I was seven years old. I had left 3 olives on toothpicks, a bucket of water, and that note I just told you about. And who would have known it would turn into this? The next morning, I ran outside, and there was only one piece of the olives left, the water in the bucket was gone, and (I swear, I swept the place clean,) there were little tiny footprints on the tiny paper!! You could even make out TINY TOES!!! They were muddy, and I had been careful to sweep every bit off. This went on for about a year, and then, I left a very carefully sorted out dollhouse complete with chairs, tables, forks, spoons, knives, a little birdhouse, a brush, and even 2 beds and a telephone! At first, they didn’t come. But the next night, they came. it might have been because I left some food the second night, but I don’t know. Shortly after that, I thought I saw a fairy in the bush on the side of my garden that the fairies live in. I thought I saw blackish gray wings fluttering around. I blinked and they gradually faded away. I hesitated, but finally I lightly shook the branch. There was nothing there!! The next sighting happened just recently, as the other happened at least a year ago. I was sitting on my front porch swing, and this huge monarch butterfly swooped down close to me, and I noticed that it had a big body. Its body was black, and I could see a little head, and I could almost make out legs!!! What a cool sighting!! But now let’s get to the big part. MY BEST FRIEND IS A FAIRY!!!!!!! Her name is Gossamer, and she is so sweet and kind!! I have never seen her, but I know that she looks a lot like Cicely Mary Barker’s Mallow fairy. She told me. I write letters to her, and that is how I know her. You have absolute permission to post this on your website, because I want EVERYONE TO BELIVE!!! Oh, and also, my friend amanda has a traveling fairy friend, and she has met peter pan!! But his friend Tinkerbell was not very nice... I thought Tinkerbell was ridiculous until that day. Always believe! |

My name is Rebecca and my first sighting was in the dark. It was a moonlit night and I had just gone to bed. I was looking at the stars when I saw a golden circle of light on the ground. I got scared and hid. I've seen others like it before on our pine trees and I swear I've seen them walking around at night. I had just read a fairy novel as well. |

I think I saw a fairy last night (10/4/2010) but it might have been an optical illusion or my imagination, but I'd like to think it was a faerie. Last night I was lying in my bed chanting "I do believe in faeries" when I saw something that looked like a really big moth. It was all gray, looked kind of fuzzy and the wings were in the shape of dragonfly wings, but they were arranged like butterfly wings-two on the top with the tips pointing forward, two on the bottom with the tips pointing downward. I didn't see a body or anything, just the wings, but a moth couldn't get into my room. It just fluttered up and disappeared. Another sighting I had was when I was taking the dog for a walk. There was a butterfly fluttering ahead of us. It looked like a Blue Morpho, but we don't get Blue Morphos in Texas, and it was sparkling. My mom said it was just a butterfly, but she always says that. She says she believes, but she actually doesn't. |

Well, i don't actually live in australia, but one holiday (it might've been summer holidays because i remember it was a warm, sunny day) i went to australia to visit a close friend of mine. We were around seven years old back then, i'm 14 years old now. Her family believes in fairies. Well, her dad does and her dads mom does as well! And her dads mom had encountered fairies before. I hadn't even thought about fairies until i visited her. She claimed she saw a fairy in her brothers room one night. She said it had hair that was shoulder length, it was wearing silver dress and had silver wings. She also said it had a silver glow around it. It was standing at the edge of the table looking down. We both thought it was a tooth fairy because her brother had lost his tooth that same night. Anyway, we decided to make a fairy ring for the fairies to dance in. My friend had made one of these before and she wrote a note asking who her tooth fairy was and if they could leave them fairy gold. She showed me both the note that was signed by the fairies and the fairy gold. So, we decided to write a note asking who my tooth fairy was and if i could have a fairy gold. So we gathered flowers, rocks and pebbles, some fruit and made a ring near a tree. We put the note in the ring as well. We then went inside into a room that was at the front, the front of the room was all glass so we could see into the front garden.
We were both drawing fairies when i looked outside. Then i saw something flutter down from the tree to our ring. I quickly told my friend and she said lets go outside, so we did. When we reached the ring it was signed in green that said the green queen (my tooth fairy) and fairy gold! I was so shocked! The gold was exactly the same as my friends! Sadly, i lost both the note and fairy gold, but i still write notes to the fairies, although they never seem to reply back. Except, another time i saw a fairy was when i was 12. I wrote a fairy note and got flowers. I left it in my room. I was sleeping until i suddenly woke up. I saw a red glow, but it was orange in the middle and is was just outside my window. I blinked once, twice and it was still there. I thought i was just seeing things! But then when i got up to take a closer look, it disappeared. I thought it was my parents outside with the torch, because we have possums living in our yard we always go outside with the torch to see them. But when i asked whether they went outside last night, they said they didn't. It was also midnight when i saw the glow.Hopefully, they'll give me another fairy gold. Also, im a christian so is it bad to believe in fairies? The bible doesn't mention them at all! I really don't know if i should! |
