FAIRY SIGHTINGS by ADULTS - nine

Chirstopher - North Carolina

. . .

This past spring of 2009 I took pictures of the blooming flowers in my yard to capture figures in the grass. My friend Sabrina took later pictures in her house that may very well prove or atleast give hard evidence to the existence of faeries. We both believe deeply in faeries, as she is a Wiccan and I am a Wizard. The picture of the grass and the figures circled in red came from my yard in North Carolina in spring of 2009, the pictures of the inside of a house came from my friend Sabrina in Maine, and I submit those pictures with her permission. I do not believe that we are any strangers at all to the Faeries, for we love them very much, I have even built a garden in honor of them. But you can look at the photos here and judge for yourself. Remember, the photo of the figures in the grass circled in red is mine, the other pictures are of my friend Sabrina. Hail to the FAE!

Mark Taylor - Abita Springs LA

I am now 39 yrs old. I grew up hunting and fishing in Abita Springs La. Always had an eye for spotting wild life. At age 18 I was always watching out for critters while I drove around in my car. Saved many turtles and other animals on the road. One morning as I was driving away from Abita Springs along a wooded rd. To my surprise something appeared to lift from the street just as I got to it. (Normally would have seen a critter before getting so close) Just before striking my windshield I clearly seen a little person with wings. My first thought was a fairy. I looked back to see if it would fall behind the car and It didn’t. I was stunned. Of course I couldn’t believe my eyes so I tried to talk my out of the sighting. Maybe a big moth I thought. That’s when I noticed the small amount of blood on the glass. I never thought it may have been a bird. Never. To this day I have only told a few. Only the few that would believe such a crazy story. I will always believe in fairies.

Ruth - Toronto, Ontario Canada

My parents recently went to North Ontario, and just before dusk, took pictures of deer. As deer are thought to bring these little creatures out, we all believe the picture I am attaching with this email has many light anomalies and one fairy flying (looks like waving) around the tree, right beside the deer to the left.

My father was a much admired and respected man and had never been know to lie. Growing up he had told me the story of his fairy sighting time and time again. He even took me to the location, which is where his ashes are spread (his request which shows how much this encounter meant to him). My father was always an animal lover and as a child you would not have been surprised to see a dresser draw full of snakes. Well my father was out snake hunting when he came across a floating ball of light, he compared them to the pollen blow flowers, which children blow out to make wishes, but they sparkled and were transparent like ice crystals or a light prism, and the light seemed to shoot out from the center, which he could not make out. At first he only seen one, which distracted him from a big snake he was chasing into a rock pile. He began to chase after the “fairy” which he believed to be intelligent. It would allow him to almost catch it but then would quickly dart away. He said it would move with amazing speed and in every direction unlike any animal or mechanical thing he had ever seen. It seemed to be toying with him, leading him to a near by field were many of these creatures were found. This was perhaps the most significant event for my father in his existence. My father felt that these fairies were leading him away from the snake; he felt they could have possible saved him. A few days later after his encounter someone else caught that snake and it became a world record.

When I was very young, I remember being in my bedroom at night and always seeing these colored orbs floating around my room; green, yellow, pink, and blue. Sometimes they would change colors. They would disappear and reappear and I would watch them fascinated, but not sure what they were. When I was about 8, one summer a friend and I would often see 3 green orbs hovering at the foot of my bed. We would talk to them, and sometimes hear small humming/tinkling sounds, as if they were talking back. My last fairy encounter was when I was about 14 or 15. I remember waking up, startled from a dream, and a yellow orb (which I had named Lucien) was hovering next to my arm, very close to me. It floated around my head for a moment, and then disappeared. I asked Lucien to please come back, but he didn't. I occasionally will see fairies on stage at the theatre. I suspect that's an obvious place to find them.

This past summer, while working in East Texas, a friend and I encountered numerous fairies, and/or fairy related incidents.  It all happened in a wooded area within a 10 foot radius around a small tree.  The tree had an opening in the bottom that was large enough to look in to.  When we did, we noticed the most peculiar looking flower (?) right in the middle of the tree.  It was white and spiraled upwards from the soil.  Needless to say, what we found was no flower at all - it was a portal to the fairies lair underneath the earth.  We had always suspected fairy life in that area, just from hearing angelic songs from time to time, and overall just feeling the presence of them flying effortlessly around us.  Once we started looking for the fairies and watching them, and talking aloud about them, they stopped showing themselves.  I think, because they are a shy species, they didn't want to come around, knowing that we were aware of them.  Unfortunately, several days later, we came to the "fairy hole" to notice sheer destruction.  Something, or someone, had dismantled the portal from the tree opening.  Soil was tossed around, and we found a small, shiny wing (possibly a fairy wing).  That is just speculation though.  However, it is not speculating when I say the fairies were ambushed out of their house.  Who, or what, was the culprit?  We could come to only one answer  - Wood Elves.  Our worst nightmare was verified when we found a large hole nearby, covered by thick shrubbery.  The hole seemed to wind down into the earth into some kind of colony.  There is no doubt in my mind that a large number of Wood Elves live in that colony.  And those same Wood Elves, with their cleverness and thieving skills, ran the fairies away.  I'm sending this story for anyone who possibly has had the same problem.  I cannot get the fairies to return, or figure out how to get the Wood Elves to leave in peace.

I have never been sure if fairies existed. My grandmother would take me into the 150 acres of forest and meadows that hid our home, and talk about her fairy friends and speak to them. I couldn't see them and finally told her I couldn't. She told me of the gift of 'sight'. I wondered later- is this like the Easter bunny or Santa Claus? I did, however, develop a special 'feeling', which came from being in the surroundings she brought me. Something like a familiarity of a special noise or panorama that reminds me of those magical places of my grandmother's stories when I come into contact with similar areas, wild and mainly untouched.

I set up the fairy sightings section, on my site, because I wanted to inspire children to write. I was surprised that the first year only yielded stories from adults. I still remained skeptical. I work with PhotoShop and thought the pictures sent in could have been created within a PhotoShop or similar program.

I walk a beautiful trail around a lake several blocks from my home in the city. This lake is surrounded by trees and not visible from any road. Many people who live here don't even know about this lake. The City Parks department maintains it, but only to the degree as to remove fallen trees from the path, refilling the cedar chips as the trails continue to sink into the surrounding peat bog. Part of the 'path' is a floating dock and Parks Department maintains the cedar railings and put more floatation devices in whenever the dock has sunk too close to the lake's surface. It is a rarity to walk and cross paths with other people as I continuously circle around the ½ mile trail.

I have been walking this trail for close to twenty years, and there are several spots where the familiar ¡feel¢ of fairies occur. One particular area feels very strong. Last year I took my camera to the lake to take various photos of areas I could use as background for my PhotoShop work. I wanted to get pictures of the area that always told me, by the familiar feeling, that this was a place teaming with fairies. The photo I am attaching is what appeared when I opened my camera files. This spot is in a dark area and there is very little light sifting through the dense foliage directly over the spot. Light is coming from behind, to the left, but the area behind this photo is blocked from sunlight by a hill. There is light approaching from the direct left of this spot. Overhead it is dense and this area is almost always in the shade, as it was when I took this picture. I have tried to think how this picture could have occurred. I had taken many pictures that day and in two different frames, other than this one, were soft yellow orbs. I thought they could be from a drop of water on my lens. Pictures taken before and after those frames, in sunny areas, didn¢t show any ¡orbs¢ that could have been caused by water droplets. The attached picture shows a glowing hot pink rectangle. A mystery as to how it could have occurred.

I have tried to keep an open mind throughout my life about fairies. I like to ¡believe¢ as it evokes a loving memory of my grandmother. I pretended to believe because I have hoped that the children in my life could grow up with the same sense of magic. After this photo I am a little closer, than middle of the fence, in accepting that fairies just might exist. I have started taking children to this place and showing them the picture.

Monhegan Island, Maine, USA

I was visiting Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine for the first time. It was late morning, close to noon, I was walking a trail through Cathedral Woods armed with my digital camera. I came upon a bend in the trail and happened to notice straight ahead through the woods, a beam of sunlight shining into a small clearing in the trees. I was struck by the incredible beauty of the moment. The  green leaves all around me glowed, as if the trees were electric. Sunlight dappled all around, and this beam of sunlight through the tall trees shone brightly. It took my breath away and I simply paused and snapped a photo of it.

Later when I viewed my photos from my trip, I remembered this moment vividly and searched for the photo. When I came upon it, I was struck by the beauty of the photo, but noticed nothing unusual. Several months later, reminiscing about the trip, I got out the photos and then saw a  figure in the center of the photo where the sun beam had shone so intensely. It wore a brown cloth robe with hood up, blending in. Under the hood, a face. It is uncanny, the figure is almost transparent. Could it be a wood spirit disappearing or appearing in front of me? Or could it be a tree stump? Sceptics who have viewed it think that a person must have been standing there. I am certain that no person was standing there when I took this photo. There are many local tales of little people through out rural Maine, but surprisingly little info on the Internet. I have spent much time in the Maine woods since I was a child and have seen many things  unexplained. These things were  unexplainable, yet somehow I just knew that it was all  natural. I have always had a vague awareness of the presence of beings in the woods, such as fairies or little people. When I was a Child I believed  there to be Native American Spirits in the woods behind my house.  I have always  had a deep respect of the woods, but never any direct contact with anything like this.

I am 36 years old and believe in faeries and other elementals.  I have built a faery corner in my garden in the hope that I will see one, but I have not yet.  When I was 21 years old I lived in an old rented house at the top of a main road overlooking Stonehenge .  The house itself was nothing special but the gardens were home to huge burial mounds.  Behind the house and gardens were farmers fields.  I used to cycle across these fields to reach my place of work. One morning I stopped and stood still because a stag ran across the track and into a horseshoe shaped wood.  It was beautiful, the morning dew was still on the ground and the sun was rising behind the woods.  I suddenly felt immensely at peace and a soft wind suddenly blew across me and into the woods.  I then heard giggling.  It was high pitched and sounded like lots of children.  I listened to it for about 30 seconds and then it stopped.  I know that I heard faeries.  I got back on my bike and cycled to work.  I know that I had been privileged and smiled all day long.

It was the summer of 2007, around 4 am. My husband and I couldn't sleep so we decided to take a walk outside. We went across the grass field next to our house. Since it was raining we found a shed, sat down on the ground quietly began to listen to the soothing sounds of rain. We were talking amongst ourselves in a soft tone while gazing at the trees across the field straight ahead of us. Then something very strange happened. I heard a very distinct "whistle" and a "pop" at the same time, very close to my ear, then something suddenly brushed through my hair and flew right in front of me. My husband and I both heard the strange whistle and we both got to catch a glimpse of the "thing" that was floating around in front of us for a good few seconds. What we saw was very hard to describe... It was about 3-4 inches big, with green wings that looked a lot like a dragonfly's wings, but it had no body. We could only see a pair of green wings! Then it flew straight across the field and disappeared somewhere in the trees. To this day we still can't explain what we saw that night, but I like to think it was a faerie, since I can't imagine what else it could have been. I am very science-oriented and extremely skeptical when it comes to unseen beings. But I know what I saw was real, and I had a witness that saw the same exact thing, so now I know there are creatures out there that live beyond the physical realm.

When i was 19 i was very curious about fairies and i brought a fairie book. in the book it said that if you wanted to invite fairies into your house that you should put dried rosemary in the window seals. so i did, granted i still did not believe any thing would really happen or wether i wanted them in my house for sure. Well a few weeks later it was late at night and my mom was a sleep and i was watching tv. i want pass the kichen window and saw something out of the corner of my eye. and than i looked again out the window and there it was looking at me. it did not look pretty like in fairie pictures but rather scary looking. it was about 4inchs tall paleish light green with beady black eyes and moth like wings it really scared the crap out of me and i went and told my mother. after that experience i had a hard time falling alseep at night for quite some time.
