Birthday Party Ideas
Please feel free to print this page for your use
Birthday parties can be very fun, but pretty hectic as well. FairyGarden's
has some ideas to make your party planning easier.
Share Party Plans With Your Child
|
|
Your birthday child will feel special and involved when they are
included in the planning. Set time aside on your calendar to sit
down with them to choose a theme, select a menu, activities, decorations,
party favors, costumes, games, and crafts. Try out some recipes
ahead of time.

Budgeting
|
|
This would be a great time to help your child understand the concept
of a planning budget. Set up a dollar amount for the party as a
whole, then delegate how much should be spent in each category.
The child can help problem solve to bring expenditures down. This
is helpful if the child is of school age and can add and subtract.
If you have booked the Birthday Fairy, you know the cost of the
entertainment. The child will be able to see, and hopefully appreciate
the expense you are incurring for their party.

Loot Bag Ideas
|
- Fairy Rubber Stamps
- Small inking pad (for children 6 or older)
- Butterfly, fairy, or flower stickers
- Iridescent marbles
- Pink or white candies
- 1 roll of metallic ribbon (part of the party shows them how
to create a fairy skirt from ribbon)
|
Magic Wands
|
|
Before the party, cut stars from heavy tag board, or buy the precut
stars used as gift tags from outlets such as Paperzone. During the
party, have the children tape the stars onto a straw. For the more
crafty, provide ribbon, glue sticks, glitter and charms.

Fairy Food Ideas
|
|
I have found that most children pass over the cake, but love the
ice cream. Instead of a large Barbie Cake, try these great Mini
Fairy Ice Cream Cakes:
- Scoop ice cream into pretty cupcake cups
- Place a cute little doll into the center of the scoop. You can
find cake dolls at Michael's Craft Supply or most craft stores.
- If dolls are naked, pull up a bit of the ice cream to cover
the dolls breasts.
- To create a shimmering magical effect, sprinkle the doll and
the ice cream with colored sugar or other tiny yummies.
- Spray whipped cream behind the doll to create wings.
- You can make these cakes ahead of time and store them in the
freezer on a cookie tray.
You can find additional baking goodies at: Home Cakes (9514 Roosevelt
Way NE Seattle 206-522-4300), or the Kitchen Shop on the south end
of Broadway in Everett.

Lady Bug Cupcakes
|
|
If you would like to have some cake, try some Lady Bug Cakes.
- Frost cupcake red.
- Use black gel frosting (available at most markets) to create
the details.
- Draw one black line directly down the middle, creating the
wings.
- Color in head, and then create the dots.

Butterfly Sandwiches

Instead of serving a plain old triangular finger-sandwich platter,
use a variety of cookie cutters to create a beautiful bouquet of
interesting shapes! Be sure to check out FairyGardens' selection
of Cookie Cutter
sets!
